Alan N. Nevin

Alan Nevin is a real estate economist and demographer. He has served the development, investment and legal community with real estate advisory services for more than 30 years, with a primary emphasis on California. Mr. Nevin is the Director of Economic Research for MarketPointe Realty Advisors, the leading real estate consulting and database firm in Southern California. He also heads the firm’s litigation support activities and its personal investment advisory services.In addition to his consulting activities, Mr. Nevin has been active in the real estate development and investment industry. He has been a co-general partner in more than three- dozen partnerships in southern California that built or rehabbed multi-family projects and commercial buildings. In recent years, his development activities have centered on high-end luxury homes and condominiums in La Jolla and condominium conversions in San Diego County.
Mr. Nevin has been an instructor at UC San Diego Extension for the past two decades and is the school’s senior advisor on urban planning/real estate programs. He regularly chairs seminars on apartment investments and real estate forecasting. His course on the future of the California economy is offered each spring at UCSD. He is a co-founder of the UCSD Economics Roundtable.
He is a member of the San Diego County Apartment Association, Urban Land Institute, National Association of Industrial and Office Producers and the Building Industry Association of San Diego.
His regular column appears in Metropolitan Magazine and he is a contributor to the California Builder Magazine, the San Diego County Apartment Association Magazine and other publications.
Mr. Nevin holds an M.A. in market/statistical research from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from American University in Washington, D.C.
On November 11, 2004, both the City of San Diego and the County of San Diego designated Alan Nevin Day for his contributions to the community.
