The Laws Of Lifetime Growth
Always Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past
This little book packs a lot of punch in challenging thinking as regards lifetime growth. The authors suggest ten "laws" which will make our futures bigger than our past.
How often do you and I beat ourselves up over poor choices that we've made? How productive is that really? As Dr. Phil asks, "how's that work'n for you?" The authors of Lifetime Growth suggest a different choice...use our past as a springboard-the raw material for creating an even bigger future.
The First Law Of Lifetime Growth
Our future is our property. We can choose to make it whatever we want. A bigger future includes anything we want to see that's somehow an improvement on what's true now: greater learning, contribution, opportunities, capabilities, understanding, confidence, quality of life, compassion, connectedness. The list goes on and on, limited only by what one can imagine. Some people's bigger futures revolve mostly around themselves, while others' encompass contributions to many other people and things.
Make Your Future Bigger Than Your Past
In order to make your future bigger than your past, we must first believe that it is possible to have a bigger future, no matter what stage we are at in life or what our present circumstances are. Often, this belief alone is enough to keep you growing. Ask yourself: "If everything I've done so far is just the beginning...what's next?"
Small Steps Keep You Growing
Small steps keep you growing. Growing can be as simple as making an effort to learn something that increases your perspective on the world or using the time you have left to make a new contribution. A bigger future is not about how much time you have left; it's about what you do with that time.
